March GBM
On Wednesday, March 11, LTI had its March General Body Meeting (GBM). At this meeting, the focus was to welcome our five newest executive board members into the LTI family. The new members of the executive board are Chris Su '11, Fei Sun '12, Wesley Leung '11, Walter Anazonwu '11, and Monica Oliver '12. In addition to getting to know the newest LTI executive board members, highlights of that night included: several social Icebreakers, LTI jeopardy, and an overview of upcoming events for LTI.
Student Final Projects
Student final projects are an essential part of the LTI curriculum, in which students have the opportunity to give back to their own community in the form of an LTI-funded service project. On Sunday, March 8th, students presented their final project proposals to the LTI Board of Directors. Proposals included projects focusing on removing graffiti from public areas, implementing an invisible children awareness program, and producing an educational play on alcohol abuse. Currently, students are expected to take the feedback from the LTI board of directors and edit both their proposals and presentations by the closing ceremonies in May for LTI funding approval.
New Expansion Committee
We are excited to announce that three of our newest LTI executive board members (Chris Su '11, Fei Sun '12, and Monica Oliver '12) will be developing our Expansion Committee, which aims at implementing and extending our program and connections to locations in Mexico, China, Brazil, El Salvador, and South Africa. Currently, the Expansion Committee is set to team up with MIT SEALNET for a trip to China this upcoming summer.
Boston Arts Academy Visit
Spring 2010 student recruitment has commenced with a visit to the Boston Arts Academy! We initiated our publicity campaign for the upcoming fall semester recruitment cycle by distributing flyers and meeting potential applicants Friday, March 20th. Solidified. Look for specific LTI Expansion travel locations and time updates soon!
