Congratulations Summer 2009 HSSP Mentors!

2009! Mentors include Kenneth Cottrell '08, Andrew Ha '08, Intae Kim '08, Jennifer Chen '09, and Bekri Ahmed '09. Following the application and selection process, the previous students experienced a rigorous training session that taught our new mentors how to run icebreakers, activities, and facilitate difficult discussions.

In addition to the general mentor training, the mentors were put to the test in "extreme mentoring." In this activity, each mentor facilitated a controversial discussion while the rest of the LTI staff acted as disruptive students. This activity showed each mentor the crucial aspects of a great mentor.

HSSP Class Kick-off

The first official class of the 2009 Summer HSSP LTI class began on Sunday, July 12th! Over 30 students attended the first class. The session began with reflective letters and introductions and ended with the team building activity, paper towers. Mentor and students bonded over motivation discussions and group competitions.

Fall Recruitment Schedule

As the fall semester approaches, LTI Public Relations is hard at work planning a rigorous mentor, executive board, and student recruitment schedule. Since LTI has been recently ASA recognized, new recruitment opportunities during orientation, such as the annual Activities Midway, are now available for both executive board and mentor recruitment.

High School student recruitment for the Spring 2010 LTI session is scheduled to begin early August with school visits and application mailings. LTI is currently exploring a recruitment plan with the program's alumni.
